I got involved with Special Olympics because it means so much to me knowing I am helping transform the lives of others. I started volunteer coaching for Special Olympics in college and loved it. I even made a short documentary about Special Olympics and the athletes for a film class. I wanted to show that there is no difference between Special Olympics athletes and college or professional athletes – that all athletes are equal and one in the same.

Being a part of the SOC Associate Board and volunteering for Special Olympics has made me really appreciate the differences that we ALL bring. I am excited to continue to volunteer and be involved with the organization for many years to come!

My favorite memory is volunteering at powerlifting events. It was incredibly moving to see the athletes push themselves and their teammates to be the best that they can be!
