I wholeheartedly believe Special Olympics is an avenue for changing lives- setting individuals on a path to stronger personal, social, and physical development. Special Olympics allows me to be part of a collective movement of hope, trust, and strength. I couldn’t be more excited to volunteer with like-minded individuals. My sister has autism and when I volunteer, it makes me feel closer to her despite her living far away.
While I was at school, I was lucky enough to volunteer with Special Olympics. Our campus hosts one of the largest events in the world and I was chosen to serve as a Local Program Host ( a liaison and guide for a community/ team while they were participating in our Fall Festival). I also organized my sorority’s participation. Looking back. I can say, those were some of the best days of my college experience.
