Program Contact Information

Special Olympics Chicago/Special Children’s Charities funds a wide range of outstanding programs that can be a resource to you and your students. We encourage you to take advantage of all of these options and participate in the programs of your choice.

Art and Music Therapy Progam:

This pilot program provides weekly, in-person group art or music therapy sessions for students in special education cluster programs (K-12). The therapeutic artmaking and music programs have been adapted to meet the individualized needs of students at various stages of development. The creative arts therapies provide a platform for self-expression and invite non-verbal individuals to communicate through a creative medium. We are expanding this program to make it available in your school too!

If you’d like information on this program, please email us and include your name, phone number, and your school.

Chicago Park District Programs:

We sponsor a number of great programs organized by the Chicago Park District.

Adventure Club

Adventure Club offers a variety of activities that many of our athletes and their families may have not yet had the chance to try.

Family Opportunities

The Chicago Park District’s Family Opportunities are fun options for our athletes to enjoy with their families. Some popular activities are archery, indoor rowing, golf, fishing, and bowling.

Intramural Programs:

In January 2022, the Chicago Park District launched a new intramural program. The weekly clinics offer instruction for skill-building, scrimmages for teams, and coach development for both skills and teams. Each session offers great opportunities for all individuals with intellectual disabilities regardless of approval status for competitions. Equipment and uniforms are provided.

For information about intramural programs, please contact Blair Ade at the Chicago Park District at Blair.Ade@chicagoparkdistrict.com.

Virtual Programs including Learn to Cook with SOC/SCC:

We offer a series of fun and educational virtual programs that students can enjoy from home. We are also happy to coordinate hosting a virtual class in your classroom for your students! Contact maureen.perez@sochicago.org to request additional information.
